Never played skater hockey before, but fancy a go.

The Oxford Blues skater Hockey club run beginners, intermediate and advanced sessions for adults (18+).

These sessions are not as regular as they could be. Please contact someone in the club to confirm that any of these sessions are currently active.

Beginners sessions.
These used to run on Monday evenings at Wheatley park sports centre, however, the beginners have all progressed to intermediate and it currently has been suspended . If there is enough interest, it could be resurrected.

Intermediate sessions
are at Wheatley park sports centre on Thursdays at 10:00-11:00 in the evening. This session costs £3.00 for non-members and 2.50 for club members. This session is Hockey only (no training). Any one is welcome to this session, but full body armour is required.<Body amour link>

RollerMania.
Every Saturday Night is RollerMania at Wheatley park sports centre. Adults go free when accompanied by children. This is 7:00-8:30. Price ??? per child.Click for details

RollerMania allows beginners to practice their skating, amongst others who also find it difficult locating their centre of gravity!

At 8:30 the big boys come on for full contact skater hockey. This needs full kit, but is open to players from all clubs. In theory, any one with full kit can have a go, but don’t expect the players to go easy on you!

Equipment
The club has some brand new sets of equipment for players who haven’t yet bought their own. These kits are available for hire. They are £20 deposit and £1 per session.

If you decide to carry on, then the kit can be purchased, with a discount equal to the amount of rental paid. These are good quality kits that we bought at a discount using grants specifically for this purpose. This makes the whole deal VERY good value.

Please make contact with someone in the club to arrange for this kit to be available.

Skates:
We do not hire out skates. If you want to play, you must equip yourself with skates. Buying cheap recreational skates is not a good investment. Ask around if anyone has some second hand(foot) skates in your size. An old pair of good hockey skates will be better than a cheap pair of new ones.

See Buying KIT for further equipment information.

Please e-mail the relevant club manager/committee member for further details, or contact me richard@oxskate.com.
