The Krefeld Skating bears from Germany came over to to Oxford for the weekend of 29th-30th May 2004.
We played their Peewee team at the 2003 Peewee European cup tournament in Essen, Germany. We both got to the semi finals, they came second, we came fourth. We must have made an impression, because they want to come back for another match.
Like our peewees, the original competing team where split between peewee and youth age. So, they brought teams from both age groups.
They trained with us at Black Bird Leys. They then went on a guided tour of Oxford, then onto the 'ice disco' at Oxford Ice rink in the evening.
On the Sunday we had an 'Oxford Euro Challenge 2004' match with the Germans, us, and teams from Swindon and Reading. And then the highlight of the day, The veterans match.
The weather held out marvelously and a barbeque was enjoyed by all.
Black bird leys sure was full.
