A bit of History (Before my time anyway)

howsit boys n girls!?

its tom edwards! congratulations on the nationals, especially all the peewees and easy and joe (yay Edwards and wannabe!:D) on dream teams!

the write ups r good... BUT!

"We have never, ever in the history of the club, won a penalty shoot out."

not true!

Id like to direct your attention to the bauer tournament in 1999! when Alan Green (love him as i do) scored the winning penalty shot in his goalie kit to get us to the semi's (i think)! I cant remember who played, i did, dave and my dad were there and can verify! david russel, will wright, easy, kendrick, broady, calvert, monksy, was it both the coombses?, alan in goal, i cant remember who else! sorry, anyone remember?? Either way...we won that shootout and if u dont believe me, get hold of eurosport for the footage cos it was on telly!

Reply from Micheal Coombs:

Tom - correct my man - we did indeed win that shoot-out, with Alan "the superstar goalie" Green, scoring the winner! I was there, but Martin wasn't.

Ah memories, memories....

Were you part of our group that was chased out of the canary wharf shopping centre by a security guard the night before?! The things you do in your early teens.... I don't think Bauer are ever going to put 60 teenage boys in a 4 star central london hotel again - a lesson well learnt!

Just one correction though - I do believe it was in 1998, rather than 99. Wasn't it just before the nationals that year? How old do you feel now?! 6 years ago...
