INSURANCE
The following was lifted from BISHA's web site, and outlines the cover under BiSHA membership. The club insurance supplements this cover.
BiSHA Membership Services
These insurances are established and funded centrally by BiSHA for all qualifying members. The cost is met from individual and club annual registration fees.
Combined Liability Insurance
All registered members, including coaches and officials, and Clubs and regional Associations are covered under this scheme.

If required, Clubs and Associations can increase the Public Liability cover, in £1m stages, upto £10m.
Employers Liability - covers the Insured for claims that might arise if an employee suffered physical injury or illness in the course of, or resulting from, his or her employment.
Product Liability - covers the Insured for claims arising out of faults in something the Insured designed, tested, manufactured, serviced or sold. Claims could be for death, injury or illness. Faulty equipment causing death or injury, food poisoning caused by the sale of contaminated food or drink are examples of where Product Liability would be required.
Public Liability - cover the Insured if members of the public suffer from death, injury or loss of or damage to their property as a result of the event organised. It relates to accidental events only and covers the Insured's legal liability to pay the damages. It is often referred to as 'third party cover'.
The BiSHA policy covers All Acts of Negligence, Member to Member claims, Libel, Slander, Fraud, Leased and Rented Premises, interests of Local Authorities and claims from Public Spectators. Also covered are Players Coaches, referees, Officials, Doctors and other First Aid Workers attending an event. The cover of £2m is per claim.
Personal Accident Insurance (PA)
All registered members aged between 5 and 70 have Personal Accident Insurance cover. It covers you whilst playing, training, practising and whilst you are travelling directly to and from these activities. It applies world wide.
There are four key benefits:
Accidental Death: £5,000 for players, £10,000 for coaches and officials, (Note: It does not cover death resulting from natural causes.
Permanent Total Disability: £50,000. If you became Permanently Total Disabled as the result of a sporting injury or accident en route.
Hospital Cash Benefit: £25 per day. For each full day you are detained in hospital following a sporting injury or accident en route. No benefit payable for one night only. However, if more than one night then benefit includes the first. Maximum of 30 days.
Capital Benefit: £50,000. Should, as a result of a sporting injury or accident en route, you lose the use of sight, or hearing, or speech, or limbs, a sum of £50,000 is payable.
Temporary Total Disability (TTD)
All registered members aged 16 to 65 are covered for Temporary Total Disability Benefit. TTD provides short term income security should you be unable to work as a result of an injury sustained whilst playing, training or practising. Also, as a result of injury sustained in an accident whilst travelling to and from these activities. The BiSHA scheme benefit is £75.00 per week for upto 52 weeks. Benefit commences after an initial deferred period of 14 days.
